Strong. Sculpted. Unstoppable.

Babe—let’s talk strength training for women in Bournemouth.

You've walked past the weights section in a gym and felt that flutter of nerves. Maybe you've watched women lifting heavy and thought Because there’s a lot of noise out there.

A lot of “rules.”

A lot of advice that makes you second-guess yourself.

And you don’t need that.

Not here. Not in our space.

I’m Cassey—and at MYVIBE we lift with sisterhood, unapologetic energy, and big “you’ve got this” vibes.

So today? We’re clearing up a few strength myths—like it’s part of the warm-up.

The Myths We’re Clearing Up

Fitness advice for women? It can be… confusing. And sometimes it’s delivered with zero context and a whole lot of fear. We’re not doing fear. Because I see it every week—women hesitating at the door because someone once said “weights will make you bulky.” No pressure. No judgement. Just truth—plus a pep talk you absolutely deserve. Let’s fix it. Together.

Myth #1: "Lifting Weights Will Make You Bulky"

This one.

We hear it all the time.

And if you’ve ever thought it—you’re not “behind.” You’re normal.

You’ve just been given a confusing message.

Here’s the deal—women produce around 10% of the testosterone men do. That’s the hormone that makes “bulky” happen easily.

So unless you’re training like a pro, eating in a huge surplus, and basically making “build muscle” your full-time job… you’re not accidentally waking up looking like The Hulk.

Those super-jacked female bodybuilders you’ve seen?

Years of work.

Planned food.

Very intentional training.

That’s not you doing PowerGirlPT twice a week and living your life.

What actually happens? In studies, women lifting for 12 weeks lose around 5% body fat and gain 3% muscle.

Not bulk.

Shape.

Definition.

That “oh hi shoulders” moment in the mirror.

And in our PowerGirlPT sessions? You’ll feel it fast:

  • Arms that look like you train (because you do)

  • Legs that feel solid, not shaky

  • A back you actually want to show off

Strong. Sculpted. Unstoppable.

And if you DO want to build serious muscle?

We love that for you too. Always.

Myth #2: "Women Should Only Lift Light Weights with High Reps"

If light weights make you feel safe right now? That’s okay.

We start where you’re at.

But let’s clear this up—because you deserve the full picture.

The tiny dumbbells. The endless reps. The “tone don’t build” energy.

Babe—your body isn’t here for busywork.

Truth—your body responds to challenge.

If it’s not challenging you, it’s not changing you.

And yes—women benefit from lifting heavier within their capacity (ACSM backs this).

Heavier doesn’t mean reckless.

It means you’re working in that spicy 6–12 rep range—where strength and shape are made.

When you lift heavier (for YOU), you get:

  • More strength—fast

  • More metabolism—hello afterburn

  • More results—less time wasted

  • More confidence—because you can DO things

In our strength training sessions in Bournemouth, we build you up properly.

Start where you’re at.

Progress from there.

No pressure. No judgement. Just you—getting stronger every week.

And yeah—you’re about to surprise yourself.

Myth #3: "Women Can't Handle Heavy Weights"

This one?

It’s just not true—and you deserve to know that.

Because we’ve watched women at MYVIBE do things they never thought they could.

Deadlift bodyweight.

Hip thrust double bodyweight.

Squat numbers that would make their past self proud.

Women are strong.

Incredibly.

Powerfully.

With full-on unapologetic energy.

Your body is built for this:

  • Carrying

  • Lifting

  • Pushing

  • Pulling

The idea you should avoid “heavy” is old gender stereotype nonsense—not biology. Not science. Not reality.

Every week in our PowerGirl PT sessions you see it happen.

One more plate.

One more rep.

One new PR.

And no—you don’t lose your femininity.

You don’t become “too much.”

You don’t suddenly wake up looking different overnight.

You become more YOU.

More confident. More capable. More alive.

That’s what strength training for women in Bournemouth should feel like—empowering. Bold. Sisterhood-led.

Myth #4: "Women Should Train Differently Than Men"

Plot twist—you don’t need some watered-down “ladies plan.”

The fundamentals of strength training don’t change because of gender.

A squat is a squat.

A deadlift is a deadlift.

A row will always build a strong back—whoever’s holding the bar.

These compound lifts work because they’re effective. Not because they’re “masculine” or “feminine.”

Now—your goals? Your body? Your history with training?

That’s personal. And we respect that.

At MYVIBE, we use the same powerful foundations. What changes is:

The load you’re lifting

The goal you’re chasing

The tweaks your body needs

The speed we progress

But the movements?

Universal.

Proven.

They work.

You don’t need a “cute” workout.

You need a smart one—built for you—with your girl gang beside you.

Myth #5: "One Training Plan Works for Every Woman"

Okay—this one’s personal.

You’re not “every woman.”
You’re you.

Your goals. Your schedule. Your stress levels. Your hormones. Your relationship with movement.
It’s all yours.

So why would you follow a random generic plan made for “women in general”?
You deserve better than copy-and-paste.

At MYVIBE, we see the whole picture. Some of you want strength for real life. Others want performance. Some of you are rebuilding after years of punishment workouts. Some of you just want to feel powerful AF.

All valid.
All welcome.
All part of the sisterhood.

That’s why strength training in Bournemouth with us isn’t one-size-fits-all. Whether you’re in group PowerGirlPT or booking 1:1—we meet you where you’re at.

Total beginner? Don’t stress. We start there.
Coming back after a break? We rebuild smart.
Nervous in gym spaces? You’re safe here. No pressure. No judgement.

This space?
Sisterhood. Every time.
